MAPS student organization hosts knee replacement demonstration

The Minority Association of Pre‑Medical Students (MAPS) recently hosted a knee replacement demonstration that gave College of Science students a hands‑on look at orthopaedic surgery. The event provided participants with an opportunity to explore real‑world surgical techniques and medical innovation.

The demonstration featured Dr. Ali Oliashirazi, professor and chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and chief of the Division of Total Joint Replacement at Marshall University’s Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. Students gained insight into joint replacement procedures and learned more about careers in orthopaedic medicine. The College of Science thanks MAPS and Dr. Oliashirazi for an engaging and educational experience.
