Marshall University Physics students helped inspire curiosity and creativity during the 13th Annual West Virginia Makes Festival, held Oct. 2 on Marshall University’s Huntington campus.

The physics program hosted interactive demonstrations that attracted visitors of all ages as they explored science, technology, engineering, and creative maker activities from across the region. Members of the Society of Physics Students and Science Olympiad at Marshall University staffed the physics tables throughout the day, sharing hands-on experiments and engaging festival attendees.

The department thanked Society of Physics Students members Niko Faulcon, Tyler Parsons, Paul Varney, Diesel Bryant, and Riley Zornes, along with Science Olympiad members David McGraw, Bennett Luo, Sophia Shiu, and Sydnie Wolfe, for volunteering at the event. Special thanks also went to Dr. Sachiko McBride for preparing and organizing the physics exhibits.

Hosted at the Memorial Student Center, the annual festival featured exhibits, demonstrations, workshops, and design challenges from Marshall University, regional organizations, and industry partners, highlighting innovation and STEM education throughout West Virginia.
