Physics students and faculty share research at regional AAPT meeting
Students and faculty from Marshall University’s Department of Physics recently presented their work at the Appalachian Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) Fall 2026 Meeting, held October 17 at Ohio University.
Marshall presenters shared research and educational initiatives spanning a wide range of topics, including the challenges and opportunities of using artificial intelligence in the classroom, AI applications for accessibility, neutron star remnants following collisions, binary neutron star inspirals and tidal deformability, photoconductance and memristive behavior in metal oxide-based heterojunctions, and the student resource program Herd Hours, which was developed at Marshall.
The meeting provided students and faculty with an opportunity to present their work, engage with colleagues from across the region, and contribute to discussions on physics research and education.
Marshall University is scheduled to host the Appalachian Section AAPT Fall Meeting in 2027. For information about the event, contact Dr. Sachiko McBride at mcbrides@marshall.edu.
