Honors Housing

Live Where You Learn, Learn Where You Live

Students admitted to the Honors College have the opportunity to live in a dedicated honors community during their first year in First-Year South. This living-learning environment is designed to support academic success, personal growth, and meaningful connections with fellow honors students.

After the first year, honors students are eligible to live in Willis Hall, located in Marshall Commons. This upper-level honors housing option features suite-style living, enhanced privacy, and continued opportunities for engagement within the Honors College community.

How to Request Honors Housing

  • To select Honors Housing, you must first be admitted to the Honors College by one of our two admissions pathways and have the “Honors” attribute on your student record (which we do here in the Honors College within a week of your admission to the college) before completing your Housing Agreement.
  • When you complete your Housing Agreement, you’ll be asked to choose 3–5 building preferences (including Themed Communities like Honors).
  • If you’ve already submitted your Housing Agreement before joining the Honors College, you can still request Honors Housing: just email Housing and Residence Life at housing@marshall.edu to update your preferences. Written consent (as in an email) is required for updates.

Pro tip: The earlier you join the Honors College and complete your Housing Agreement, the better your chance of being placed in Honors Housing.
