The Martin Luther King, Jr. State Holiday Commission honored Lewisburg natives Pamela Barry and Neely Seams with the “Living the Dream” award this year. The two wrote and performed a powerful monologue that honored another notable West Virginia native, Katherine Coleman Goble Johnson. 

Marshall University School of Theatre announces Auditions for its Spring productions: Alabama Rain and As You Like It on November 27th, beginning at 7:00 PM  at the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center in the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse.

Marshall University’s 2017-2018 theatre season will begin with “The Miracle Worker” by William Gibson. The opening show will play at 7:30 p.m. nightly Wedneday, Oct. 4, to Saturday, Oct. 7, and Wednesday, Oct. 11 to Saturday, Oct. 14, in the Francis-Booth Experimental Theatre in the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center on Marshall’s Huntington campus.

The Marshall Theatre Department has listed upcoming meetings for majors as well as auditions for the first two productions of the year.

More than 100 West Virginia students between their sophomore and junior years have been immersed in the Governor’s School for the Arts at Marshall University. The audition-based school began June 25 and will end July 15.

Marshall University’s School of Theatre will present the classic musical “Guys and Dolls” by Frank Loesser, Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows next week in the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse on Marshall’s . Performances will take place Wednesday, April 19, through Saturday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 23, at 2 p.m.
