Marshall University’s Institute for Cyber Security offers Marshall students an undergraduate program, as well as two graduate-level programs. The Insitute for Cyber Security produces well-rounded graduates at both levels that are capable of using their knowledge of science and technology to solve investigative and cybersecurity problems. The programs are practitioner-focused, intent on providing students with the education and skills they need to help fill the cybersecurity skills gap. These programs emphasize critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication through a challenging and hands-on environment. Students in the these programs will learn to use many of the same professional tools, techniques, and procedures that are being utilized in the workforce.

Undergraduate

Cyber Forensics and Security, B.S.

The Cyber Forensics and Security, B.S. degree is the Program of Study (PoS) validated by NSA CAE.

The Marshall University Cyber Forensics and Security undergraduate program produces well-rounded graduates capable of using their knowledge of science and technology to solve investigative and cybersecurity problems. The CFS program is practitioner-focused, intent on providing students with the education and skills the industry seeks. This program emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication through a challenging, hands-on environment. Students in the CFS program will learn to use many of the same professional tools, techniques, and procedures utilized in the workforce.

 

Graduate

Cyber Forensics and Security, M.S.

The Master of Science (MS) degree in Cyber Forensics & Security (CFS) provides students with advanced education and skills in cyber forensics and cybersecurity. This advanced, practitioner-focused program is intended to prepare students for the fast-moving and ever-­changing environment they will work in upon graduation. Students will learn advanced skills and techniques to solve investigative and cybersecurity problems using cutting-edge science and technology. The program will also prepare students to face sophisticated cybersecurity and investigative challenges and take a leadership role within their organization. The MS in CFS curriculum includes many challenging, hands-on exercises with realistic, real-world problems and opportunities for students to practice and refine their communication skills.

Cybersecurity, M.S.

The Master of Science in Cybersecurity program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and professional practices needed for careers in the cybersecurity fields. The program also prepares students who desire to pursue further graduate work that leads to a Ph.D. degree. The curriculum covers several advanced topics in cybersecurity, such as; advanced cryptography, cybersecurity policy, cyber risk and vulnerability, cyber operation, wireless network security, web/mobile security, software security, security in Internet of Things (IoT), etc. These courses will be taught using the very latest, state-of-the-art security tools and technologies.
