Share

The Marshall University Forensic Identification Association (MUFIA) will host a dinner and silent auction in order to provide funds for the advancement of the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital on Saturday, Jan. 23. The event will take place in the atrium of Cabell Huntington Hospital starting at 6 p.m.

MUFIA is an active student organization that focuses on promoting interest and advancement, both personal and professional, of the Forensic Science program at Marshall University.  The current members of MUFIA want to extend a charitable hand to the Huntington community by hosting this event.

The evening’s activities will include a short reception with food and beverages catered by Olive Garden, a silent auction, and live entertainment that will feature a local musician. During the event, a toy drive will also be taking place. Members of MUFIA are encouraging event attendees to bring new toys with them to donate to the hospital.

“We hope this event will provide a fun opportunity for members of the community to support the children’s hospital as well as the education of Marshall University students,” said Laurel Hardy, MUFIA fundraising chair.

Tickets to this event will be $50 for a single ticket, $80 for two tickets, and $300 for a table of eight. Tickets can be purchased by going online at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mufia-silent-auction-tickets-20180734119. The proceeds collected from this event will be split between MUFIA and Hoops Family Children’s Hospital.

MUFIA will use their half of the proceeds for their upcoming American Academy of Forensic Scientists Conference (AAFS) in Las Vegas. The remaining proceeds will be turned over to hospital administration, in order to enable the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital to continue to provide quality and comprehensive care to adolescents from the Tri-State area.
