Share the Health event promotes the Recreation Center

The Recreation Center is aiming to Share the Health with members of the Marshall community from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9.

Share the Health will feature six group fitness classes including the launch for BODYPUMP 96, Barre Fit, Zumba, BOKWA®, POUND and AcroYoga. It will also be the last chance to purchase personal training sessions at the 2015 rate.

“We are adding some new classes for spring 2016. We are really pumped for people to try them at Share the Health,” said Anna Blanchard, graduate assistant of fitness. “We are adding awesome new instructors to our team who are really helping us diversify the classes offered here at the Rec.”

BOKWA®, a new class starting in January, is a fun and simple dance fitness program with no choreography to learn. BOKWA® meets the needs of every fitness level with low- to high-impact steps.

POUND is a full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with constant simulated drumming. The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, isometric movements, plyometrics and isometric poses into a 45-minute series. Participants drum their way to leaner, slimmer physiques.

Another new class making its debut at Share the Health is AcroYoga, a dynamic partner practice that blends the wisdom of yoga, the dynamic power of acrobatics and the loving-kindness of healing arts.

Campus Recreation is also offering a membership special the day of the event. Any patron who commits to a one-year membership will receive the remainder of January for free. Proof of Marshall University affiliation must be provided.

Share the Health is free to all members of the Marshall community. Access to the facility is free for anyone who wants to join the fun, so bring a friend.
