Gift from Laboratory Corporation of America benefits College of Health Professions

The Marshall University Foundation Inc.  received a $25,000 gift in April from laboratory Corporation of America, which has been designated for the program fund of the College of Health Professions’ Clinical Lab Sciences program.

The award will allow students to gain hands-on experience through providing essential items such as lab supplies, updated equipment, service contracts and maintenance for new and existing lab equipment and classroom technology. It also will assist students by providing necessary funds for student fees for memberships in professional societies, student research project expenses and graduation items.

“We are grateful for the financial support from Laboratory Corporation of America for our College of Health Professions,” said Dr. Ron Area, chief executive officer of The Marshall University Foundation Inc. “This gift to the established program fund will provide the needed equipment, supplies, research expenses and professional membership costs that will enhance our students’ educational experiences.”

As a pioneer in genomic testing and the commercialization of new diagnostic technologies, LabCorp is one of the world’s largest clinical laboratories, offering a broad range of routine and esoteric/genomic assays.  LabCorp maintains a network of more than 1,700 Patient Service Centers, which are strategically located throughout the United States.
