School of Medicine hosts 2016 Research Retreat

More than 65 researchers, including faculty, staff and students from several different disciplines, attended the 3rd Annual Marshall University Health Sciences Research Retreat today on the Huntington campus.

The morning session featured an overview of the university’s research enterprise, including reports from the school of medicine, school of pharmacy, graduate education and the university’s biomedical engineering program, among others.

Afternoon activities included a greeting from University President Jerome “Jerry” Gilbert and a presentation by F. Heath Damron, Ph.D., a Marshall alumnus who is an assistant professor in the department of microbiology, immunology and cell biology at West Virginia University, as well as a report from Zijian Xie, Ph.D., director of the Marshall Institute for Interdisciplinary Research (MIIR.)
