For new employees with families, it is important to know the options of local school systems. Below, we have listed area schools to help in your search. These schools are located in the three surrounding states, WV, KY, and OH.

Mason County Schools

Putnam County Schools

The mission of Putnam County Schools is to ensure that every student masters the curriculum and achieves academic success. We will dedicate our time, resources, and practices to closing the achievement gap, bringing every student to mastery and beyond, and preparing every student for success in a diverse and changing world. Working with the home and community, we will build a supportive system characterized by ethical behaviors, mutual respect, professionalism, and collaboration.

Wayne County Schools

Wayne County Schools will provide all students, Pre-K-12, with personalized support needed to ensure graduates are college and/or career ready for the 21st Century global society.

Mountain State Christian School

Founded in 1966, Mountain State Christian School was the first Protestant school in West Virginia! MSCS offers academic excellence from K3 to Grade 12 with a Christian, Bible-based curriculum.

Our Lady Of Fatima Parish School

Our school offers three preschool classes starting at the age of 2 and classes in grades kindergarten through eighth.We are a school founded on Christian values and traditional education, with each student receiving not only the highest of academic training, but also a fully rounded education with daily classes in music, Spanish, and art.We have the most up-to-date in technology with a Chromebook or iPad ratio of 1:1 for each student beginning in kindergarten through eighth grade.This year we are excited to offer a new Spanish curriculum for elementary students, a new science and social studies curriculum enhancement for lower elementary grades and for the first time at OLOF we are adding an Algebra 2 class that is high school credit transferable.

Public Schools

Ashland, KY Area

The Ashland Independent School District has a successful public school system and a team of professional teachers and administrators who strive to provide an excellent education to benefit their community. This district serves the area within the city limits of Ashland, Kentucky.

Boyd County, KY Area

The Boyd County Public School District is committed to creating an environment of high expectations, to engaging every student in work reflecting a high achievement level and working collaboratively with students, colleagues, families and their community to ensure student learning. This district serves the area within the city limits of Catlettsburg and Boyd County excluding the city of Ashland and Westwood.

Fairview, KY Area

The Fairview Independent School District is dedicated to helping students achieve high levels of success while making school work challenging and learning fun. This district serves the area of Westwood and consists of two school Fairview High School and Fairview Elementary School.

There are 2 private schools in Ashland, KY, serving 363 students, Holy Family School, Rose Hill Christian.

Holy Family School

Holy Family School’s mission is to inspire students to achieve academic excellence through innovative instruction and service-learning within a Christ centered environment.

Rose Hill Christian

Rose Hill Christian School exists to provide a sound, academic education integrated with a Christian view of God and the world based upon the authoritative and inerrant Word of God. The Bible is specific in stating the principles, which underlie Christian education. The apostle Paul presented a comprehensive principle when he wrote of Christ, “For by him were all things created, that are in Heaven, and that are in earth… and He is before all things and by Him all things consist.” (Col. 1:16,17)

Public Schools

Fairland Local Schools

The Fairland School District provides students with the opportunity for success in the 21st century, through a challenging curriculum in a safe and caring environment. The Fairland District school was awarded an Excellent District Rating by the Ohio State Board of Education in 2011-2012. This district was formed in 1949 as a consolidation of Proctorville and Rome schools. It serves the village of Proctorville, Rome Township, parts of Union and Windsor Township as well as parts of Crown City and Guyan Township in Gallia County. The district consists of four schools: Fairland East Elementary, Fairland West Elementary, Fairland Middle and Fairland High School.

Chesapeake Schools

The Chesapeake Union Exempted Village School District strives to inspire all students to become life-long learners, innovative problem solvers, effective communicators and responsible citizens. This district includes Chesapeake, Batramville, Getaway and Union Township.
