Abstract:
This session will highlight how Writing Across the Curriculum Principles and the UDL framework can serve as blueprints for teaching writing in your course. First, we will discuss why writing is such a valuable high-impact practice. We will also examine the best practices provided by WAC Pedagogy in the process of learning to write and writing to learn. Then, we will focus on how UDL can assist with engagement with and the expression of writing in your course. The session will guide faculty on using the +1 approach to UDL to make small but meaningful changes to how you teach writing within your course. Tools and technologies that can support different types of writing challenges will also be demoed for participants.
Session type: Panel/Interactive Presentation, Hybrid (virtual live stream and face-to-face)
Key words: WAC, writing, UDL
