If you are unsure of what a full course load is for you at your education level, please contact ISS at iss@marshall.edu. *If you are in your final semester before graduating from your current program, you must be enrolled in a minimum of one classroom-based course. *You must see an International Student Advisor if you require less than a full course of study to graduate. *If you fail to attend classes, you may be subjected to administrative action as determined by Marshall University’s attendance policy. *You must see an International Student Advisor to request a Reduced Course Load if you cannot be registered full-time. A Reduced Course Load can only be approved under certain circumstances. *You must see an International Student Advisor if you need to have changes made to your I-20 or DS-2019. *You must see an International Student Advisor about the following: program extensions, pursuing off-campus employment opportunities, changing a program or program level, transferring to another institution, changing status, or traveling outside the US. *You must notify the Office of International Student Services within 10 days of moving to a new address. *If you have been offered employment and you need a Social Security number, you must contact an International Student Advisor and provide them with a letter from your employer stating your job description, location, and the hours you work per week. *If you are in F-1 status you may work on-campus part-time (up to 20 hours per week) when the University is in session and full-time (20 or more hours per week) when the university is not in session (i.e. Spring break, summer, etc.) *A hold will be placed on your Marshall record that will prevent you from registering for classes until you provide the Office of International Student Services with proof of your health insurance coverage prior to each semester. *If your I-20 or DS-2019 is about to expire and you need more time to complete your program, you must request a program extension and provide all supplemental documents no later than the end date on the I-20. *If you need additional time in your program and fail to extend your program before your I-20 or DS-2019 expires, you may have to leave the US or apply for reinstatement. *If you wish to transfer to another institution, you must make an appointment with an International Student Advisor. *Before you travel outside the US, you will check to be sure the signature on your I-20 or DS-2019 is not expired. When you reenter the US, the signature on your I-20 or DS-2019 must not be older than one year (or 6 months for students on OPT). *After you travel outside the US, you must stop by the Office of International Student Services to have new copies of your documents made. *Keep all my documents and copies of your documents (including my passport, visa, I-94, social security card, I-20’s and DS-2019’s) in a very safe place, preferably keeping the original documents and copies in different locations. *Never throw away any I-20s or DS-2019s! Keep every I-20 or DS-2019 that you receive for later use (i.e. OPT, H-1B, Green Card applications, etc.).
