Marshall University’s public radio station, WMUL-FM, took home three 2017-2018 Pinnacle National College Media Awards, announced last month in Louisville.

Marshall University will present a free screening of the documentary film hillbilly from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Room 154 of Smith Hall on Marshall’s Huntington campus.

Adam Rogers, a student broadcaster from Marshall University’s public radio station, WMUKL-FM, received a 2017 National Mark of Excellence Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. He will be presented his award, which was in the Radio Sports Reporting category, at the SPJ Convention and National Journalism Conference Saturday, Sept. 29, in Baltimore.

Tickets are available for the Sept. 21 ceremony to honor five graduates of Marshall University’s W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications (SOJMC) who are being inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame.

The dotCOMM Awards are administered and evaluated by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professional to honor excellence in web creativity and digital communication.

Students from Marshall University’s public radio station, WMUL-FM, received four Awards of Excellence and six Awards of Distinction in the 24th Annual Communicator Awards 2018 Audio Competition. WMUL-FM was notified by mail that its entries had won.

Publisher and Marshall University alumnus Jack Houvouras has established an undergraduate scholarship at the university. The John H. Houvouras Scholarship for Journalism was designed to assist aspiring journalists from West Virginia.

Five graduates of Marshall University’s W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications (SOJMC) are being inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame. Betsy Alderman, Andrea Billups, Frank Giardina, Todd Marcum and Jerry Tipton officially will be inducted during a ceremony this fall.
