Two sections of Marshall University Public Relations Campaign Management classes took home four first-place Crystal Awards from the Public Relations Society of America-West Virginia Chapter at the PRSA-W.Va. Gala June 14 at the Culture Center in Charleston.

Students from Marshall University’s public radio station, WMUL-FM, received five (5) Platinum Awards, seven (7) Gold Awards and six (6) Honorable Mention Awards in The Hermes Creative Awards 2016-17 Competition.  The winners were named in a letter dated Monday, April 10, 2017, from Dallas, Texas.

Students in the documentary journalism class in the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications honed their storytelling skills in the video format. Marshall journalism professor Dan Hollis and WMUL-FM, Marshall’s public radio station, were honored with a regional Edward R. Murrow Award April 25 by the Radio Television Digital News Association. Five graduates of Marshall University’s W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications (SOJMC) are being inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame this fall. Sean Callebs, John Hackworth, Susan Lavenski, Chris Stadelman and Dave Wellman officially will be inducted during a Sept. 29 ceremony.

Students from Marshall University’s public radio station, WMUL-FM, received 10 first-place awards and 12 honorable mention awards during the National Broadcasting Society/Alpha Epsilon Rho (NBS/AERho) 26th Annual National Student Audio/Video Scriptwriting and 54th Annual Audio/Video Production Awards Competition ceremony at the Hilton Meadowlands Hotel in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Saturday, March 25.

Dan Hollis, professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications of Marshall University’s College of Arts and Media, recently brought home two first-place awards for his creative work from the National Broadcasting Society’s national convention in New York City.
