Marshall University’s W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications and West Virginia University’s Reed College of Media are partnering to present INTEGRATE West Virginia, a two-day conference for marketing communications students and professionals June 2-3 at Marshall University’s new Visual Arts Center in downtown Huntington.

Following the latest induction of five new members, the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications (SOJMC) is seeking nominations for its upcoming Hall of Fame class.

The Dr. Carter G. Woodson Lyceum’s first official act involved a successful application to the West Virginia Humanities Council, which has awarded the lyceum a grant of $20,035 for “The Dr. Carter G. Woodson Lyceum’s Summer Program for Black History Instruction.”

Marshall University students will have the opportunity to work out any frustrations and relieve any stress that might have built up during the first semester of classes, thanks to an annual homecoming tradition sponsored for the 15th year by WMUL-FM, the university’s public radio station.

Dr. Peggy Proudfoot Harman and husband/documentarian Jason Harman took home the first-place prize in the Best West Virginia Short Documentary category for their documentary, “George Rashid: The Leper of Pickens” at the WV FILMmakers Festival.

Marshall Health has announced that Charles A. Shumaker has been named department administrator for Marshall Surgery. Shumaker joined the Marshall Health team in 2015 as the department administrator for Marshall Dermatology. Prior to coming to Marshall Health, he served as the manager of media and community relations for Cabell Huntington Hospital for seven years.
