Department of Biological Sciences

Welcome to the Department of Biological Sciences at Marshall University! Our department is dedicated to the study of life in all its forms, from the smallest molecules to the largest ecosystems. Our faculty, staff, and students are passionate about exploring the intricacies of the living world and the ways in which it interacts with the non-living world.

Academic Programs

Our undergraduate program in Biological Sciences is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the principles of biology, from genetics and biochemistry to ecology and evolution. Students have the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research with faculty members, participate in fieldwork, and take courses in specialized areas such as microbiology and marine biology. Our graduates have gone on to successful careers in fields such as medicine, biotechnology, and conservation.

Our graduate program in Biological Sciences offers students the chance to pursue advanced study and research in a range of areas, including molecular and cellular biology, physiology, ecology, and evolution. Students work closely with faculty mentors to develop their research projects and gain hands-on experience in laboratory techniques, fieldwork, and data analysis. Our graduates are well-prepared for careers in academia, industry, and government, as well as for further study in doctoral programs.

Our department is home to a diverse and dynamic community of scholars, researchers, and students. Our faculty members are recognized leaders in their fields, with expertise in areas such as plant biology, animal behavior, and microbial ecology. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a wide range of interests and experiences to their studies. We strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Thank you for visiting the Department of Biological Sciences. We invite you to explore our website to learn more about our programs, our faculty and staff, and our research. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you!
