As we start the fall semester, we remind you of the important role which you have in the cyber security of Marshall University. Please review a few key steps listed below which you can take in protecting your information and devices:
Be cautious of suspicious e-mails, phone calls or text messages.
These should be reported to the IT Information Security team via the e-mail address phishing@marshall.edu.
If you see something, say something.
If you believe a campus resources is at risk or has been compromised, please contact the IT Service Desk at 304-696-3200. Indicate that you are requesting assistance with an information security incident or concern and if your report is urgent. Your information will be escalated to the ITÂ Information Security team.
Have a backup plan for your important data.
Marshall students, faculty and staff have access to 1TB of personal file storage through their Marshall OneDrive account. See www.marshall.edu/it/onedrive for details. Contact your department IT service provider or IT Service Desk to discuss options for protecting institutional data.
Take advantage of multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Use multi-factor authentication to assist in protecting your MUNet account from fraudulent activities. Visit www.marshall.edu/it/mfa for more information.
