How to Configure Your MUNet Password
Create a strong password!
The longer you make your password, the better! You can make a strong password using random characters and save it with the help of a password manager. Passphrases are another method to create a strong, memorable password using familiar words. Some examples of passphrases are:
- Roulette5-Half-Fade
- Spoiler5-Nugget-Antibody
- Planet-Guitar42
While the above are examples of strong passphrases, these specifically should not be used.
Minimum Password Requirements:
- Minimum twelve characters
- Must have one each of three of the following:
- Uppercase letter
- Lowercase letter
- Number
- Special character
Must be a unique password that has never been used for this account before.
Steps to Reset or Change Your Marshall Password:
- Open https://aka.ms/sspr in your web browser
- Type your Marshall e-mail address in the Email or Username box and complete the Captcha.
Complete the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) verification that you previously configured. If MFA is not set up or working on your account, please contact the IT Service Desk. Contact information below.
- Choose your new password by typing it in both boxes. Refer to the minimum password requirements section (above).
Once you click Finish and your password is accepted, you can use this password to sign in.
Additional Tips:
1. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it through the ‘Forgot Password’ link on myMU single-sign-on gateway.
2. You may find that your MUNet password is stored on multiple devices. So if you change your MUNet password, be sure you remember to update your Polycom phone, mobile/wireless devices, etc.
3. Should your MUNet credential ever become compromised (e.g. your password was part of a non-Marshall account breach or if you were asked to change your password as part of a phishing attack) you must NEVER use that password again. The bad guys share these exposed credentials and others will keep retrying make use of them.
4. Use separate passwords for your Marshall and personal matters – never use the same password to secure sensitive and non-sensitive data. This way if a password used for personal use is compromised, it cannot also compromise Marshall systems.
As always, please be sure to report any unexpected issues to the IT Service Desk.
