Where are you from?
Bluefield, WV

Why did you choose the Marshall University School of Physical Therapy for your DPT Education?
I chose Marshall DPT because they have a great reputation especially around the area.  I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Marshall so why not cap off my education through the same wonderful institution.

What has been your favorite PT class thus far in the program?
Gross anatomy has been my favorite class thus far in the program.  It is hard to understand how complex the human body is by learning in a lecture hall and reading a textbook. As a visual and tactile learner this class really helped me connect the dots.

What do you see as the strength of the Marshall School of Physical Therapy?
I think the strength of this program is its dedication in advancing the profession of Physical Therapy as a whole.  The curriculum has changed to broaden our education, giving us the capability to work in multiple different settings.

How is PT school different from your undergraduate education?
The pace of a graduate level program can’t be compared to that of a normal undergraduate education.  It is very challenging to learn so much information in such a small amount of time.  The difference is the content is interesting and focused on what we will be doing the rest of our careers, making it much easier to push through.

What advice would you give to prospective students who are starting the application process?
Don’t be afraid to reach out to faculty and learn all you can about the programs you’re applying to.  It is important to make sure it’s the right fit for you because it is the beginning of your professional career.  Start early and try not to stress out about it. Remember why you are applying in the first place.
