This will only affect people who have set up automatic forwarding of all messages from an @marshall.edu address to a non- @marshall.edu address.
Why is this happening?
This change is being made for a couple of security reasons:
- To facilitate the remediation of future malicious email-based attacks (e.g. phishing)
- Automated forwarding allowed users to use their email with expired credentials
Are there any exceptions?
Unfortunately there are currently no plans to allow automated forwarding of emails for any reason. This decision was made for all of the Marshall University community for security reasons and is crucial for continuing protection of Marshall personnel, students and information.
How can I easily receive emails after this change?
We know this change could negatively affect one’s email workflow, but after learning information in the following articles one should quickly regain functionality of their emails:
- You can still access Marshall email via Outlook online
- You could also set up Marshall email directly on your mobile device, to ensure you don’t miss any emails
- Add your personal email to your Outlook client on your desktop; Here is a video showing to how you can setup a ‘consolidated inbox view’ using common e-mail clients/services . This can also be done on mobile devices as well.
Installation for anti-virus will vary based on your device configuration.
