Marshall University’s School of Music will present “Vila Boa and Other Tales: A Guitar Recital with Júlio Ribeiro Alves” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the Jomie Jazz Forum on the Huntington campus.

Marshall University’s School of Music will present its University Chorus, along with its campus a capella group, 3rd Avenue, in a concert titled “Songs of Love and Light” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Smith Recital Hall on Marshall’s Huntington campus.

Marshall University’s School of Music and Fifth Avenue Baptist Church will each host a performance of Romantic Trios, a concert featuring Marshall University faculty.

Marshall University’s marching band, the Marching Thunder, will host 23 high school bands for its annual marching band competition Saturday, Oct. 13, at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. Bands from West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio are participating in the event, which kicks off at 9:45 a.m. and concludes at 5 p.m.

Marshall University’s School of Music will host a flute studio recital with guest artist Dr. Ginny Tutton at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Smith Recital Hall. It is free and open to all.

Dr. Henning Vauth, an associate professor of piano at Marshall University, will perform a solo recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, in Smith Recital Hall on Marshall’s campus. It will feature the works of Schubert, Schumann, Pfitzner, Liszt, Petit and Debussy. The concert is free and open to the public.

Marshall University’s marching band, the Marching Thunder, will be traveling to London, England, during December 2019 and will perform in the 2020 New Year’s Day Parade. The Marshall University Wind Symphony will present the first concert of the season with “An Evening with Women Composers” We have also teamed up with the Marshall Women’s Studies Department to offer additional resources. The event is free and open to the public but a donation will be collected to benefit a local women’s charity.

The Marshall University School of Music will present a multi-media performance by BHZ (Burke-Hall-Zanter) at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, in Room 143 of Smith Music Hall.
