Classical guitarist Erisvaldo Borges will present a free recital and master class Thursday, Sept. 8, and Friday, Sept. 9, respectively, on Marshall University’s Huntington campus as a guest artist for Marshall’s School of Music.

The School of Music at Marshall University will host a free recital presented by clarinetist Robert Heath at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, in Smith Recital Hall on Marshall’s Huntington campus.

Dr. Vicki Stroeher, a musicologist at Marshall University, presented her first book, “My Beloved Man,” to Marshall’s president, Dr. Jerome Gilbert, Wednesday, July 6.

Four Marshall University faculty members have been named directors of the university’s Center for Wellness in the Arts.

The Marshall University Music program and the Department of Jazz Studies will present two concerts next week as part of the university’s 17th annual Jazz-MU-Tazz summer camp.

The Marshall University School of Music and Theatre will present the fourth and final lecture of the spring series for MUsic Mondays on May 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cellar Door, 905 3rd Ave., Huntington. The lecture, “May Day: Benjamin Britten’s Spring Symphony,” will explore post-World War II England and its national musical identity.

Saxophonist Jordan Carinelli and pianist Dr. Henning Vauth will present the Belle and Lynum Jackson Competition Winner’s Recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17, in Smith Recital Hall on Marshall’s Huntington campus.

The Marshall University School of Music and Theatre’s “MUsic Mondays” will present the third lecture of the spring series at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 11, at the Cellar Door, 905 3rd Ave., Huntington. The lecture, “Cheerful Feelings in the Country: Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony,” will explore Beethoven’s musical means of expressing the pastoral or countryside.

Fresh off their performance tour to Spain, Marshall University’s Chamber Choir will present a final spring concert for the public at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church.

Marshall University’s Department of Modern Languages will present a Koto and Flute Recital at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 19, in Smith Music Hall 133 on Marshall’s Huntington campus. Masayo Ishigure and student Tomomi Takamoto will perform on koto, while Marshall’s Dr. Wendell Dobbs will perform on flute.
